TKG+ is pleased to exhibit the works of Hou I-Ting (b. 1979, Booth W15), Charwei Tsai (b. 1980, Booth N07) and Wu Chi-Tsung (b. 1981, Booth N04) at this year’s SH Contemporary 2012, while also participating in the exhibition Now Ink, which focuses on new ink painting and calligraphy-related multimedia works.
Hou I-Ting who photographs herself in the traditional, unregulated street markets of Taipei, prints her images onto canvas, and embroiders that very canvas with needle and string, eliciting questions about gender, identity, space, and surface.
TKG+ artists Charwei Tsai, and Wu Chi-Tsung will participate in Now Ink, an ongoing exhibition focused on new ink painting and calligraphy-related multimedia works, curated by SH Contemporary in collaboration with Arthub Asia. Charwei Tsai, whose presentation will include photographs, a video, an artist’s book, and an installation piece, will demonstrate the breadth and scope of Tsai’s artistic practice, expanding on her connections to Buddhism; while Wu Chi-Tsung, inspired by his observations of Western and traditional Chinese landscape paintings, probes potential connections and reinterprets ink and oil paintings through the medium of video, blurring assumptions about media and cultural specificities of landscape works.
