TKG+ is pleased to announce its participation in the 2021 edition of Art Taipei. Presenting the diverse works of Yuan Goang-Ming, Hou I-Ting, Charwei Tsai, Kong Chun Hei, and Jam Wu, TKG+ aims to highlight the artistic and social concerns that shape their creative practices.

A forerunner of video art in Taiwan, Yuan Goang-Ming (b. 1965) investigates the interrelationship between the media and the object behind the moving image in his work Smiling Rocking Horse (2011). Departing from a familiar perspective, the work warps the established perception of how things are seen, expanding the dialectic of video and reality. Hou I-Ting (b. 1979) is known for her blending of photography and embroidery. The idea of labor runs through her work Correction Arts Assembly (2019), where housework, outsourcing jobs, the collective manufacturing system, as well as women's role within the global political-economic system, are interwoven with the image and the archival record. As a preview to her upcoming solo exhibition at TKG+ in 2022, Charwei Tsai (b. 1980) brings her latest work Offering of Mount Meru (2021), which depicts Mount Meru, the sacred mountain of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist cosmology, through meticulous embroidery. The craft of paper cutting informs the practice of Jam Wu (b. 1979), who presents his latest work Bonfires ─ Weaving (2021). In the process of deconstructing paper and weaving it to create new forms, Wu translates mythology into his personal reflection on civilization. For the Exceptional sector, TKG+ presents Hong Kong artist Kong Chun Hei. His solo project at Art Basel Hong Kong 2021 garnered attention of the international media and collectors. Deeply informed by conceptual art, his work examines everyday objects and their inherent forms, while exposing varying nuances in the relationship between the object and the context where it is found. This has underpinned his practice which stretches intuitively across painting, installation, and video in an artistic exploration propelled by the artist's inquisitive nature.

Since its inception in Taipei in 2009, TKG+ has been dedicated to promoting experimental, innovative, and critical contemporary art across Taiwan and Asia. It privileges artistic forms in diverse mediums, in an attempt to embrace the full spectrum of contemporary art. The ultimate goal is to broaden the canon of Asian contemporary art through the multifaceted works of the artists TKG+ represents.
