Chen Ching-Yuan is participating in Taipei Biennial 2023, titled "Small World". The exhibition theme suggests a promise of greater control over one's own life, and a threat of isolation from a larger community. Chen's works featured in the biennial are first inspired by his residency experience in Paris, 2020, during which a city lockdown took place shortly after his arrival due to COVID-19. The ensuing sense of conflict forced him to reorient himself mentally and physically.
