The exhibition explores the roles of women who worked during pivotal moments in history and society, revealing to visitors the challenges and societal and structural problems faced by women then, and hope to change negative perceptions toward women’s work.The video work by Hou I-Ting which is on display White Uniform features a group of workers from the Qidu Taiwanese Railway Lunchbox Kitchen who dressed in white uniforms. Inspiration from the practice of seventy years ago when railway lunchboxes were adorned with cut-out patterns made from seaweed, the workers repeatedly process and prepare lunchboxes. Hou I-Ting attempts to transform the daily labor actions of these workers, performed under collective consciousness, into artistic endeavors, thereby exploring the relationship between artistic production and the production of daily labor. The content also delves into the roles often undertaken by women in these processes and the tasks assigned to them.
